Job Description

 

Position:  Purchasing/Inventory Control Coordinator

Location:  South Whitley, IN

Wage Range:  $35,000-$45,000

 The primary role of this position is to be the central focus and key contact for inventory activities and purchasing activities required for the support of a manufacturing operation. A strong background in both inventory control and purchasing is required for the candidate to be successful in this position. This function requires someone who is an enthusiastic team player with high energy and an attention to details.

 Key Responsibilities and Activities

 ·         Control the inventory of materials through the use of an ERP system to assure inventory accuracy and the availability of required parts

·         Maintain pertinent system information and perform inventory transactions

·         Manage incoming and outgoing movement and storage of materials

·         Formulate procedures and coach others to assure that materials are available and delivered as needed

·         Assure inventory accuracy throughout the system for all inventory items and locations through the use of good inventory control practices

·         Conduct a cycle counting program

·         Lead the physical inventory counting process

·         Determine the need for purchased material and create purchase orders as required

·         Review and maintain existing purchase orders per material requirements

·         Work with vendors to improve delivery and quality performance

·         Troubleshoot material availability problems with operations and take corrective action

·         Interact with management, engineering, production supervision and other staff regarding materials requirements, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate the production processes

·         Recommend methods for improving efficiency and reducing inventory while maintaining a high level of on-time delivery

 Desired Background and Skill Requirements

·         Minimum of 6 years experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment

·         Experience in inventory control

bullet

·         Experience in purchasing

bullet

·         Knowledge and use of MRP/ERP systems

bullet

·         Knowledge and use of email, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

bullet

·         Ability to utilize information and develop new processes to address process improvement

bullet

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

bullet

·         Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage many tasks/issues simultaneously

bullet

·         APICS certification is desirable

bullet

·         Experience in the use of Lean manufacturing tools is desirable

bullet

·         Knowledge of effective team-building approaches and team dynamics is desirable

bullet

·         Physical requirements may include lifting up to 50 pounds
